Five Achieve GoldFive of last year's Upper Sixth have just received confirmation that they have completed successfully their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. This involves a range of activities in five prescribed areas including a Service Section, Physical Recreation Section, Skills Section, a Residential Project and the demanding Expedition Section. Isabel Partridge, Giles Roderick, Felicity Barrell and Naomi Howell completed their demanding expedition of 80 kilometers on the Isle of Arran whilst Sophie Sheldrake completed hers with the current Upper Sixth in the Brecon Beacons last summer. They are now awaiting their invitations to St James Palace to be presented their awards by Prince Phillip. The award is currently very popular in the school. There are 24 Upper Sixth Formers working towards their Gold along with another 15 Lower Sixth Formers starting at this level. At Silver there are 12 Fifth Year pupils engaged on their Silver Award whilst 51 Fourth Years have nearly completed their Bronze Award with only their expedition training and qualification this Easter holidays left to complete. |
