trio make national final
Triumph
in Bristol means trip to London
Musicians from HCS showed their prowess when their Trio won the
regional final held in Bristol, following victory in the heats in Cheltenham,
to progress to the national final of the National Chamber Music Competition.
The three talented teenagers, Liam Dunachie, Chris Dollins and Rosemary
Channin travel to St John's Smith Square on the 21st March to compete
against other regional winners.
This national competition is competed for by many schools, and part of
the prize is receiving a masterclass with national music figures. Sir
Simon Rattle and Lady Evelyn Barbirolli are the Presidents of the competition.
Liam holds Grade 8 singing and piano, and is a violinist and jazz pianist.
Rosemary holds Grade 8 violin, leads the Herefordshire Youth Orchestra
and plays French Horn, while Chris hold Grade 8 singing, and is a cellist
and pianist. Both Liam and Chris are ex-choristers of Hereford Cathedral.
In the competition the Trio played music by Beethoven (Trio No. 1 in C
minor) and Miniatures by Frank Bridge.
