Christmas cards
for trees
HCS conservation
group in action
Hereford Cathedral School conservation group
have organised the collection of Christmas cards within the school in
order to recycle the card for the Woodland Trust charity.
All
pupils at the school have been encouraged to bring in their cards and
many thousands have been collected, which will be used to raise money
to preserve Britain's woodland heritage.
Conservation is one of the curriculum
enrichment activities available for fifth and sixth formers, and so far
the group has built a pond and wildlife garden to increase the habitat
variation on the city centre, they have built and erected twenty nest
boxes within the school grounds and have undertaken coppicing and woodland
improvement on a local nature reserve.
Currently the group of nine
students are looking for further projects they could tackle on Friday
afternoons, within walking distance of the city centre. If you have a
suitable task for conservation volunteers, please contact John Taylor
on 01432 363522.
