Easter Holidays 2006

Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Weekend trainingMalvern HillsEnjoyment

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition season started at the end of the Easter term with training days on the Malvern Hills for Bronze candidates - one day of which had to be postponed due to snow. A record number of Year 10 pupils have registered with the scheme - 53 in total - seven of whom are completing their award direct with the CCF. Weather permitting, two Silver expedition groups from Year 11 will complete their qualifying expeditions this Easter holiday in the Brecon Beacons and four Bronze expedition groups from Year 10 will have their first overnight camp.

CCF

Easter holidays are also the traditional time of year for the CCF training camps. Both the RAF and Army sections are away during the first week of the holidays with pupils from Year 9 to the Sixth Form participating. These camps offer a mixture of outdoor pursuits, military exercises and opportunities for leadership. In addition some cadets have managed to gain access to a gliding course that could include a solo flight if they pass their training!
