The House Debating
Competition 2004 for the Burgoyne Cup
The 2004 House Debating Competition was held on Monday 22nd March, in
the Gilbert Library.

Following two most enjoyable debates, Langford were declared the winners
following the adjudication by Louis Fonseca (O.H. and past Chairman of
the Debating Society) and Alex Outhwaite (O.H.).
Langford proposed the motion 'This House would disestablish the Church'
which was opposed by Stuart House. The first debate was 'This House would
re-elect George W Bush' and was proposed by Cornwall House and opposed
by Somerset.

The judges praised the speakers for the high standard of debate and as
well as awarding the Burgoyne Cup to Langford House, commended Chris Deutsch
(Langford) and Conor Mosli-Lynch (Cornwall) for their individual speeches.
