Herefordshire's sole representatives in the West Midlands team were the coxed quadruple scull from Hereford Cathedral School.  The crew of Jack Smith at bow, Calum Corbin, Seb Smith and stroke Will Boyd-Thomas, coxed by Stuart Adams, contributed to an outstanding performance by the West Midlands team which saw them finishing second overall behind the London team, Thames Downriver.

Having not recovered from a slow start in the heats the HCS quad found themselves in the small final for places 7 to 12.  Knowing every place counted in a very tight team competition the boys decided on an aggressive race strategy of a fast start, then relying on their fast late pace to hold on to position. The plan worked perfectly, the quad leaving all but one other crew in their wake as they powered through to second place.

HCS Boat Club next compete at Avon regatta on the 8th May, before contesting the Ball Cup races the following day at the Olympic bid course at Dorney Lake.
