Musical Achievements

BBC Hereford and Worcester Showcase Concert 2005

On Friday 25 February at 7.30 pm one of the year’s musical highlights took place at the Courtyard Theatre and will be subsequently broadcast on local radio. This concert, by the most gifted musicians in the county, as always, was an enjoyable experience, and as in previous year's, Hereford Cathedral School featured prominently.

Jazzband

The Jazz Band and Saxophone Quartet were asked to perform in the bar foyer before the concert and during the interval, and during the concert itself there were performances by Emily Tompkins and Tizzy Jones singing the duet Daffodils by Eric Thiman. The Jazz Trio, Liam Dunachie, Dave Greatrex and Alex Summers provided music in a more popular vein whilst the senior girls’ singers performed music by Benjamin Britten, Howard Goodall and traditional folk-song arrangements.

Gifted youngsters

In the afternoon schools concert the Junior Singers performed Richard Rodney Bennett’s The Aviary. All in all 48 pupils from the school participated in this ‘Best of Herefordshire’ music event.

Junio rchoir night out

However it is not all work, Hereford Cathedral School Junior Singers went crazy last Friday night when Mr. Moore and Mrs. Wall took them out bowling at Hereford’s TGS Ten-Pin Bowling Alley. The choir was taken out to thank them for all of the achievements that they have gained since being set up one year ago.
