Two Former Cathedral Choristers awarded Choral Scholarships to Cambridge

In the recent choral trials at Cambridge, two HCS students and former Hereford Cathedral Choristers have been awarded Choral Scholarships at Trinity College Cambridge.

Luke Fisher and Liam Dunachie are music scholars at Hereford Cathedral School. Both are heavily involved in a full music programme at the school, and the county, and are both members of major choirs. Liam as a Bass in the cathedral choir and Luke, a Bass at Holy Trinity Church choir.

After a gap year next year, both gentlemen will go up to Cambridge in 2008 with John Challenger, also a former cathedral chorister and HCS music scholar who after two years as organ scholar at St. George’s Chapel Windsor, will take up his organ scholarship at St. John’s Cambridge. Two gentlemen prepare for Cambridge with their mentors

Later this term Liam Dunachie will be performing the Grieg Piano Concerto with Hereford Cathedral School Symphony Orchestra and likewise Luke Fisher will be performing the Haydn Trumpet Concerto.

The School and Cathedral are enormously proud of the trio and their achievements, but for Luke and Liam the immediate future lies with their A Level studies. They are excellent ambassadors to Hereford and continue to inspire young students at the Cathedral School, several of whom have similar aspirations.
