Russia 2005
During the Spring Half Term a group of 35 students and four staff made the long trip out to St Petersburg, where temperatures of -7 degrees greeted the party.
Highlights in St Petersburg included; the Winter Palace, Palace Square, the Hermitage, St Isaac, Astoria Hotel, Kazan Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, Peter and Paul Cathedral - the last resting place of the Russian Tsars, Cruiser Aurora, Smolney Institute, St Nicholas Cathedral, the Yusupov Palace, Rasputin Museum, walking on the Gulf of Finland, shopping on the Nevsky Prospect and a dancing bear as well as a visit to the Nicholas Palace to take in a traditional Russian show.
It was a worthwhile and fantastic opportunity and was one that was made thoroughly worthwhile because it was a fully-curricular excursion. |
